Modern first aid kits usually consist of medications made from synthetic chemicals produced in a laboratory.  For example, the active ingredient in aspirin, salicylic acid, is derived from benzene, which is a petroleum by-product.  In addition, artificial colorings and flavorings are commonly added to pain medication, as well as cold and cough syrups.  And, antimicrobials, such as benzoates, can be used to extend shelf life.  Today, Dr. Sina shares 6 herbal remedies from her First Aid Kit that are just as effective as man-made medications, but without the side effects - including an herbal blend that can take the place of stitches!
